About Rahim
Life is all about dancing. As long as we are moving, we can dance!
With over 25 years of salsa dancing experience in Ottawa and around the world, and 10 years immersed in Argentine tango, I’ve dedicated myself to mastering these passionate art forms. My journey has included intensive training— from a transformative, Havana, Cuba (2006), to music exploration in San Juan, Puerto Rico (2009).
As a self-taught DJ with 18 years of experience, I’ve had the pleasure of spinning tracks as the resident DJ at Rahim Salsa, as well as at a wide range of local events including Salsaria, Salsa at the Mill, Salsa at City Hall, Salsa at Lansdowne Park ( Horticulture Building & Aberdeen Paveilion ), New Year’s Eve Salsa Bash, Salsapalooza, at Glebe Community Centre, Amigos Sunday Social & post-pandemic outdoor salsa social at Westboro Beach Cafe.
One of my proudest moments was presenting The Spanish Harlem Orchestra ( New York) at the Ottawa Jazz Festival 2018.Beyond the DJ booth, I spent five thrilling years creating, curating, and hosting the Ottawa-Gatineau International Salsa Festival — an unforgettable celebration featuring over 90 live performances and three days of workshops and social dancing at venues like the Grand Hall and Theatre of the Canadian Museum of History & Lansdowne Park. For the past 4 years, I’ve also been nurturing the local argentine tango scene by hosting Ottawa’s most popular weekly Wednesday tango social, "Milonga de la Confesion" held at the same venue as Rahim Salsa — a night dedicated to connection, movement, and emotion!
